Privacy Policy
This is the direct-link version of the GamepadTester.uk privacy policy.
This page is provided as a standalone URL for legal notices and Google Privacy & Messaging settings. It does not load Google Analytics, Google AdSense, or consent-banner tags.
GamepadTester.uk ("we", "our", "the Site") is operated by Inline Computers. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the Site, who handles it, and what choices you have.
1. What data we collect
| Type | Collected by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Controller button, stick, trigger, vibration, motion, and timing data you generate inside the testing tools | No-one - processed locally in your browser during normal testing | To run the test you requested. The live controller data does not leave your device as part of the core tester. |
| Optional leaderboard submissions, such as controller name, drift summary, polling estimates, benchmark score, and related test summary fields | GamepadTester.uk | To publish the anonymous result you chose to share and compare results on the public leaderboard. |
| Page views, approximate location, device type, browser, and referrer | Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) | To understand which pages and tools are most useful so we can improve them. |
| IP address, device information, cookie identifiers, and ad-related signals | Google AdSense (Google LLC) | To serve advertising, limit ad frequency, measure performance, and detect fraud. |
| Clicks on Amazon affiliate links | Amazon Associates / Amazon | To attribute qualifying purchases for affiliate commission reporting. We do not receive your Amazon order details. |
2. Cookies, storage, analytics, and ads
The Site uses Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense. Depending on your region, browser, and Google settings, Google may set or read identifiers such as _ga, IDE, or NID, or use similar browser storage technologies to:
- measure traffic and page usage;
- serve personalised or non-personalised advertising;
- limit how often you see the same advert;
- help detect abuse and click fraud.
More detail is available in Google's explanation of how it uses data from partner sites: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
3. Consent mode and regional defaults
GamepadTester.uk uses Google's Consent Mode on pages that load Google Analytics or Google AdSense. For visitors in the UK, EEA, and Switzerland, ads and analytics storage are denied by default until Google receives your choice through its Privacy & Messaging banner. Outside those regions, standard measurement and ad settings load normally unless Google or your browser applies different controls.
In regions where Google shows its banner, that banner is provided by Google directly. You can usually revisit those choices using the "Privacy options" link that Google adds to the page, by visiting myadcenter.google.com, or by clearing your browser's cookies and site data.
4. Leaderboard submissions and exported reports
Exported CSV, JSON, PNG, and PDF reports are generated on your device. They are not uploaded by default. If you choose to submit a leaderboard entry, only the summary fields required for that feature are sent to us; this is optional and separate from normal testing.
5. Affiliate links and disclosure
Some pages include Amazon affiliate links. If you click one and later make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Google and Amazon process data collected through their own services under their own privacy policies and terms. If you voluntarily share a leaderboard result, that result may be displayed publicly on the Site.
7. Security
The testing tools run client-side in your browser. The Site is served over HTTPS to help protect the limited data exchanged with third-party services and any optional leaderboard submissions you choose to make.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or other privacy laws to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal data. Because Google and Amazon control the data they collect through their own services, requests about that data should usually be made directly with them:
- Google My Activity - view or delete Google activity data
- Google My Ad Center - manage Google ad personalisation
- Amazon Privacy Notice - Amazon privacy and data requests
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly request or collect personal data from children through the testing tools.
10. Contact
